PRACTICE:
Don Jillisky is a partner in the law firm of Cannizzaro, Fraser, Bridges, Jillisky & Streng, LLC. He presently practices in the areas of business law, general civil litigation and consumer bankruptcy. Don retired from the United States Marines as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1992 after completing a career which included service as an aviator in Viet Nam and as a judge advocate specializing in international law during combat operation in Grenada and Beirut, Lebanon. As a Marine Judge Advocate, former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio, Assistant County Prosecutor, and in private practice, Don has extensive experience in many areas of the law and at all levels of state and federal courts in both criminal and civil matters. He has both prosecuted and defended many charges, including capital murder, filed briefs in the United States Supreme Court, and argued a wide-range of legal issues in courts of appeal throughout Ohio and in the United State Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, where he was commended for the quality of his analysis and argument. Don’s civil practice has included representation of clients in trials which involved breach of contract, business covenants, interference with business relationships, foreclosure, zoning regulation, sale of land, violations of the Consumer Sales Practices Act, the Ohio Mortgage Brokers Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Together with John Cannizzaro, Don presently focuses on representing consumers seeking relief from debt under Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code, with particular emphasis on restoring peace of mind and hope for the future.
EDUCATION:
Don is a 1969 graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in History, and a 1979 Graduate of the St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1979 and to the State bar of Ohio in 1993. He is also a distinguished graduate of the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island and the Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, Virginia. Mr. Jillisky is also qualified in accordance with the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA) and International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in DWI detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing.
AFFILIATIONS:
Don is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), the Ohio State Bar Association, The American Bankruptcy Law Forum, the Credit Education Coalition and the Union County Bar Association. He is also past president of the Union County Bar Association.
Mr. Jillisky currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Legal Aid Society of Columbus. |
